OLD BARON

Old Baron – The Chronicles of the Red Rage is planned as a series of approximately one-hour audiobooks. Military Sci-Fi meets horror, embedded in a dramatic story about Gunther von Richthofen and his crew of renegades and misfits. A gloomy Space Opera with the pure goal to entertain and definitely no Hard SF.
The inspirations were the raw and sinister aesthetics of Warhammer 40K, Starshiptroopers and Battlestar Galactica, the cynical tone of “Red Rising” and a good dose of lovecraftian horror.

Space, monsters, blood and rust – what more do you need?

Oh yes … huge battleships and nasty baddies. And of those, there are more than enough, and on top of that again, there are various blunt and sometimes subtle quotes from the genre.

Captain Gunther von Richthofen is a disillusioned deserter. Together with the clone couple Ryder and Hook, as well as pilot and hacker Alyhda, he makes his living on board the stolen and badly beaten Old Baron with mercenary jobs and tries to stay under the radar of the Sternenreich.

However, this proves to be a lot harder than expected and the Reich isn’t the only problem the crew of the Old Baron has to deal with.

The “Red Rage”, a devilish psi epidemic that turns the worst nightmares of the infected into a cruel reality, begins to spread in a mutated form.

Old Baron will appear in various editions in approximately one-hour episodes and at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks. As media download and CD are planned, as variants pure audiobook, as well as a version with somber & spacy ambient music.

Episode 1 – Rizon 325

The Old Baron and her little crew are in trouble. On the run from Grailknight von Juntzt, the Baron was badly damaged. In order to raise the money for the necessary repairs, the team around Sternenreich deserter Gunther von Richthofen accepts a job that turns out to be much more difficult than initially thought.

Governor Talla Ozzynski, who manages the free trading station Pri-C5, operates an ore conveyor station on a moon of Rizon 325 without the knowledge of the Sternenreich, to which the contact has broken off for unknown reasons. Her son also works as a warehouse logistician at this station.

In equal parts, out of fear for her child and out of fear that the Sternenreich will gain knowledge of her black-op, she sends the Baron to see what’s going on.

The crew around Captain Gunther von Richthofen quickly realizes that it will not be easy to fulfill the mission.

The station is refusing communication, the defenses are still active.

Something’s wrong on the third moon of Rizon 325.

Left on their own, surrounded by nightmarish psi monsters and in a race against time, the two clones and their captain follow Brandon’s tracker signal through the gigantic moonstation.

Episode 3 – Distortions

Things look pretty bleak for Gunther von Richthofen and his crew.

Although they managed to find the son of governor Talla Ozzynski well and alive and to escape the storm troops of the Star Empire for the time being, although so far nothing but corpses and ekto demons had been found in the huge conveyor station, the contact to the Old Baron and pilot Alyhda has broken off.
«I’m stranded» – that’s the last message they received.
And in addition, there’s something wrong with their target person – wrong in a very unsettling way.
